Is Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 out yet?
No. The full game has not been released. Announcements, gameplay demos and closed-beta access are separate from launch. See the closed beta guide for testing status, surveys and invitations.
Is Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 releasing in 2027?
The announced release window is 2027. SEGA lists a planned release year, not a specific day or month. SEGA ↗ · SEGA ↗ · Creative Assembly ↗
The announced 2027 window remains a plan, not a guarantee of a particular launch day.
Has an exact release date been announced?
No exact release date is listed in the SEGA product page or Steam store checked on 2 November 2026. SEGA ↗ · Creative Assembly / SEGA ↗
A release window and a day-level date answer different questions. No launch month or quarter is announced in the checked listings; this guide does not infer one.
Why does Steam say TBA if SEGA has announced a release year?
Steam lists the release date as “To be announced”. Creative Assembly / SEGA ↗
Steam’s “To be announced” means that its listing does not provide a launch date. SEGA’s official product page separately gives 2027 as the planned year. Steam’s TBA is not, by itself, a cancellation or postponement of that year window. Neither listing supplies an exact day. Follow the dated official evidence above, not a retailer placeholder or a beta app record.
Will Total War 40K release on PC, PS5 and Xbox?
The announced platforms are PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. SEGA ↗ · SEGA ↗
| Platform / store | Confirmed status | Official evidence |
|---|---|---|
| PC — Steam | Announced. Store availability requires a separate current check. | Steam listing |
| PC — Epic Games Store | Named by SEGA as a PC release store. | SEGA product page |
| PlayStation 5 | Announced release platform. | SEGA September announcement |
| Xbox Series X|S | Announced release platform. | SEGA September announcement |
Platform confirmation alone does not establish current store availability. Epic, PlayStation and Xbox entries reflect SEGA’s announcement, not a separate checkout check.
Is the closed beta the full release?
No. The closed beta is a separate limited PC test. Its schedule and eligibility do not set the full-game release date.
The closed beta is PC-only through Steam. It includes part of the tutorial, two opening Space Marines campaigns, multiplayer and custom battles, and advanced customisation. Creative Assembly ↗
The public notices checked on 12 October 2026 describe survey review followed by participant selection. No public beta start date was found in the official Steam feed or CA news archive reviewed. The Total War Team on Steam ↗ · The Total War Team on Steam ↗ · Creative Assembly ↗
A survey is not an invitation, and an invitation is not the full-game launch. Read the closed beta briefing for its current stage, access FAQ and the separate PAX Aus demo.
Have the PC system requirements been announced?
The Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 Steam listing checked on 21 October 2026 shows Windows 10 64-bit under minimum requirements and Windows 11 64-bit under recommended requirements. It does not list CPU, GPU, RAM or storage requirements. Creative Assembly / SEGA ↗
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| CPU / processor | Not listed | Not listed |
| GPU / graphics | Not listed | Not listed |
| RAM / memory | Not listed | Not listed |
| Storage | Not listed | Not listed |
The listing is incomplete, so it cannot yet tell you whether a particular PC will run the game or what performance to expect. Hardware categories in a beta survey are not published minimum specifications. Neither another Total War game's requirements nor the announced console versions establish a PC benchmark.
Check the official Steam listing for later requirements before making a hardware purchase for this game.
What settings should I use, and can my PC run it?
The currently published component list is incomplete. This guide has no verified benchmark or recommended graphics preset for a particular PC. A developer livestream, another Total War game or a beta hardware survey cannot determine your expected frame rate. An invited test participant should follow the requirements in their official access instructions.
Is Total War 40K the same game as Dawn of War IV?
No. Dawn of War IV is a separate Warhammer 40,000 strategy game from KING Art and Deep Silver; Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 is from Creative Assembly and SEGA. Release announcements for one do not set the other’s launch date. See Dawn of War IV vs Total War 40K for the differences and official sources.
Is this Total War: WARHAMMER III or a Fantasy expansion?
No. WARHAMMER III belongs to the fantasy Total War: WARHAMMER trilogy. Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 is a separate game in the science-fantasy 40K setting, not a WARHAMMER III expansion. The official product descriptions distinguish the settings.
Will there be pre-order DLC?
Creative Assembly says there will be no pre-order DLC. Its announcement FAQ defers details of pre-order bonuses; this does not establish a current price, a bonus list or an open pre-order. Creative Assembly ↗
No pre-order DLC is different from no pre-order bonuses. This dated announcement does not tell you which bonuses might be offered or their terms. Check the official store listing before relying on a price or purchase offer; a retailer placeholder is not an official launch date.
Will Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 support mods?
Creative Assembly states its intent to support modding through Steam Workshop from launch. Official modding tools are planned for later because of the new Warcore engine; the FAQ gives no tool-release date. Creative Assembly ↗
Workshop support and the release of the official creation tools are separate milestones. This announcement does not confirm console mod support, compatibility with older Total War mod tools or a downloadable mod catalog for this game.
Can I install mods now using an older Total War guide?
This guide has no verified installation workflow or available mod catalog for this game. The Workshop announcement is an intent, and the official creation tools are a later milestone. Wait for game-specific instructions rather than assuming an older game's tools, folder paths or mods are compatible.
