Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000
closed beta.

When does the closed beta start?

Check the date on an official invitation or a newer public announcement before making plans. An expo demo, a survey email or a download appearing in a third-party listing does not establish a public beta start date.

Registration, survey and invitation: which step are you at?

1. Registration: the announced registration period ended on 14 September 2026.
2. Eligibility survey: the 18 September notice asked previously registered players to complete the emailed survey to remain under consideration.
3. Selection: the team reviews responses and chooses participants.
4. Invitation: successful applicants receive the test schedule and access instructions separately.

A survey email is not an invitation. Completing the survey does not guarantee a place, and registering early is not a promise of access.

How do I download the closed beta after completing the survey?

If you are selected for the PC/Steam closed beta, follow the access instructions in your official invitation. The 18 September notice says successful applicants receive their schedule and instructions separately; completing the survey alone does not unlock a download. The PAX Aus demo was a separate in-person event announcement, not a public Steam download. While waiting for official access information, you can watch the official gameplay videos.

I registered but cannot find the survey email. What should I do?

Search the mailbox you used to register for “Total War”, “closed beta” and “survey”, including spam, junk and promotions folders. Follow the instructions and any deadline in your own official email; this guide has not verified a universal survey deadline.

If the email is missing or its link fails, check the official announcements and the CA community for guidance. This fan site cannot resend emails, repair a personal survey link or grant access.

Can I follow the beta if I am not selected?

Check the official channels for a broadcast announcement. Watching a livestream does not grant playable access, and the notice does not promise another registration opportunity. For videos you can already watch, use the official gameplay and Alpha Strike replay guide. Those earlier development streams are separate from the planned beta broadcast.

What does the announced test include?

These notices describe planned test content, not the complete launch roster. Creative Assembly expects an unfinished build with bugs, placeholder content and balance issues. For hardware information, see the PC requirements status.

PAX Aus demo: separate from the closed beta

The announced 9–11 October 2026 dates have passed. This is a historical expo announcement for an in-person demo, not a Steam download or an invitation to the closed beta. Follow PAX’s event information for the event record. The announcement does not establish that a new build or new campaign reveal will be shown.

Beta timing versus release

The 2027 · exact date TBA release status is separate from the limited Steam test. PC-only beta access does not restrict the announced full-game console platforms.
